For more than 30 years, the Manitoba Book Awards/Les Prix du livre du Manitoba
has celebrated Manitoban authors, editors, publishers and designers working in
English and in French.

After a two-year hiatus, we’re thrilled to announce the Awards are
returning in 2026.

Our main goal is to serve the community at large: readers, librarians, teachers, and book buyers who care about new stories, emerging voices, and excellence in all aspects of writing and publishing.

The awards are one of the most visible ways we celebrate the talent, labour and heart which give this province’s literature such a strong national reputation.

Important dates for Manitoban writers
& publishers.

  • Submissions for the 2026 prizes will be open on April 15, 2026. 
  • The deadline for submissions is May 6, 2026. 
  • Shortlists will be announced August 24, 2026.
  • An awards ceremony will take place September 19, 2026.
